Summary

If you are having difficulties connecting to your DomainsFoundry email from your PC, Mac, iPhone or iPad then it could be due to a problem with the incoming mail server or outgoing mail server settings in your email app. Please use the steps below to help you check your email settings.

Note: When using a DomainsFoundry email account your incoming/outgoing mail server is mail.yourdomain.com, replacing yourdomain.com with your actual account domain.

Steps to check your email settings

Apple iPhone, iPad and other iOS devices

  1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts
  2. Tap your DomainsFoundry email account.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Check the information for Incoming Mail Server is set as follows:
    • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Password: Your mailbox password
  5. Tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server
  6. Tap the Primary Server.
  7. Check the information for Outgoing Mail Server is set as follows:
    • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Password: Your mailbox password
    • Use SSL: On
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 465
  8. Tap Done at the top right.
  9. Tap Account at the top left.
  10. Scroll down and tap Advanced
  11. Scroll down to the Incoming Settings and check the following is set:
    • IMAP Path Prefix: INBOX
  12. Tap Account at the top left.
  13. Tap Done at the top right to save your changes.

Microsoft Outlook 365, Outlook 2019 and Outlook 2016

  1. Click File.

  2. Select your DomainsFoundry email account from the drop-down list then click Account Settings > Server Settings…

  3. Check the following Incoming mail settings are set in Outlook:
    • User name: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Password: Your mailbox password
    • Remember password: checked
    • Server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Port:
      • For IMAP accounts: 993
      • For POP3 accounts: 995
    • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
    • Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unchecked

  4. Click Outgoing mail
  5. Check the following Outgoing mail settings are set in Outlook:
    • Server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Port: 465
    • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
    • Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unchecked
    • My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication: Use same settings as my incoming mail server

  6. Click Next
  7. Click Done

Microsoft Outlook 2013

  1. Click File and then click Account Settings > Account Settings…
  2. Select your DomainsFoundry email account and click Change….
  3. Check the following is set:
    • Incoming mail server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • User Name: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Password: Your mailbox password
  4. Click More Settings …
  5. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
  6. Tick the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  7. Click the Advanced tab and change the following settings:
    • Incoming server settings:
      • IMAP accounts
        • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
        • Port: 993
      • POP3 accounts
        • Select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS)
        • Port: 995
    • Outgoing server (SMTP) settings:
      • Port 465
      • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS
    • For IMAP accounts set Root folder path: INBOX
  8. Click OK, click Next, click Finish then click Close

Apple Mail on MacOS

  1. Select the Mail menu and click Settings.
  2. Click the Accounts tab.
  3. Select your DomainsFoundry email account on the left then click the Server Settings tab.
  4. Check the following settings:
    • Incoming Mail Server settings:
      • Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
      • Password: Your mailbox password
      • Host name: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Outgoing server (SMTP) settings:
      • User Name: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
      • Password: Your mailbox password
      • Host name: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
  5. Click Save and close the Accounts window.

Microsoft Outlook for Mac

  1. From the Menu, click Tools > Accounts…
  2. Under Server information check the following:
    • Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Incoming server: is set to mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain.
    • Override default port: Unchecked
    • Use SSL to connect (recommended): Checked
    • Outgoing server: is set to mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain.
    • Override default port: Unchecked
    • Use SSL to connect (recommended): Checked
  3. Click More Options…
  4. Check Use Incoming Server Info is selected from the Authentication drop down list
  5. Click OK
  6. Click Advanced…
  7. Check INBOX is entered for IMAP Root Folder. Click OK
  8. Close the Accounts window and click Send & Receive

Outlook for iOS

  1. Open the Outlook app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the icon next to INBOX at the top left.
  3. Tap the settings icon.
  4. Tap your DomainsFoundry email account.
  5. Tap Edit Login Information.
  6. Enable Use Advanced Settings.
  7. Check the information for IMAP Incoming Mail Server is set as follows:
    • IMAP Hostname: mail.example.com:993, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • IMAP Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • IMAP Password: Your mailbox password
  8. Check the information for Outgoing Mail Server is set as follows:
    • SMTP Hostname: mail.example.com:465, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • SMTP Username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • SMTP Password: Your mailbox password
  9. Tap Sign in to save your settings.

Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. Right click your DomainsFoundry email account and click Settings.

  2. Click Server Settings.

  3. Check the information for IMAP Mail Server is set as follows:
    • Server Name: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • User Name: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Connection Security: SSL/TLS
    • Authentication Method: Normal Password
    • Port: 993

  4. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP), select your DomainsFoundry email account and click Edit…

  5. Check the information for Outgoing Mail Server is set as follows:
    • Server Name: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Connection Security: SSL/TLS
    • Authentication Method: Normal Password
    • User Name: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Port: 465

  6. Click OK to save your settings. Close the Account Settings tab.

Windows 10 Mail

  1. Click the Settings cog icon at the bottom left.
  2. Click Manage accounts. Click your DomainsFoundry email account.
  3. Click Change mailbox sync settings
  4. Click Advanced mailbox settings
  5. Check the information is set as follows:
    • Incoming email server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
    • Outgoing server requires authentication: Ticked
    • Use the same user name and password for sending email: Ticked
    • Require SSL for incoming email: Ticked
    • Require SSL for outgoing email: Ticked
  6. Click Done
  7. Check your Password is set as your mailbox password.
  8. Click Save

Outlook Express / Windows Mail / Windows Live Mail

  1. Select the Tools menu and click Accounts.
  2. Select your DomainsFoundry email account and click Properties.
  3. Click the Servers tab.
  4. Check the following:
    • Incoming mail (POP3) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to mail.yourdomain.com
    • Email username: Your DomainsFoundry email address. For example, info@example.com
    • Password: Your mailbox password
    • Login using clear text authentiation: selected
    • My server requires authentication: checked
  5. Click OK to save then Close.

Microsoft Entourage

  1. Select the Tools menu then click Accounts
  2. Double click your DomainsFoundry email account.
  3. Check the following:
    • Receiving mail server is set to mail.yourdomain.com
    • SMTP server is set to mail.yourdomain.com
  4. Click OK to save.
