When you send or receive email in Apple Mail, you may see this error:
Connections to the server mail.example.com on the default ports timed out
You see this message when your Mac cannot reach your email server. This usually happens when your Mail settings do not match the server details for your account.
Check your Mac Mail server settings
Follow these steps to confirm your account settings in Apple Mail:
- Open Mail, then click Mail in the top menu and select Settings.
- Click the Accounts tab.
- Select your DomainsFoundry email account in the left-hand column, then click Server Settings.

- Check your incoming mail server settings:
- User Name: Your full DomainsFoundry email address (for example, info@example.com)
- Password: Your mailbox password
- Host Name: mail.example.com (replace example.com with your domain name)
- Check your outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings:
- User Name: Your full DomainsFoundry email address
- Password: Your mailbox password
- Host Name: mail.example.com (replace example.com with your domain name)

- Click Save, then close the Accounts window.
Test your email connection
Open your inbox and click Get Mail, or send a test message to your own address. Your Mac should connect to the server without showing the timeout error.
