Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) protects your DomainsFoundry account with an extra security step. You’ll need both your password and a temporary code from your phone to log in.

Before You Start

Choose and install an authenticator app on your phone or computer:

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Log in to DomainsFoundry Dashboard
  2. Under Turn on Two-Factor Authentication, click Set Up Now
  3. Click Get Started
  4. Enter your password to continue
  5. Open your authenticator app
  6. Add a new account and scan the QR code
    • Can’t scan? Click Show the code to reveal the setup key
  7. Enter the 6-digit code from your app
  8. Click Verify OTP and continue
  9. Save your backup recovery codes in a secure place

2FA is now protecting your account.

Log In with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, you’ll need a verification code each time you sign in:

  1. Go to DomainsFoundry Dashboard
  2. Enter your email and password
  3. Open your authenticator app
  4. Find your DomainsFoundry account entry
  5. Enter the current 6-digit code
  6. Click Log In

Codes change every 60 seconds. Use the one currently showing in your app.

Recovery Codes

Recovery codes are single-use backup codes that get you into your account if you can’t access your authenticator app.

Store them somewhere safe:

  • Password manager (recommended)
  • Printed and stored in a safe
  • Encrypted file

Avoid storing them in:

  • Plain text files
  • Email or messaging apps
  • Unsecured locations

Use a Recovery Code

  1. Go to DomainsFoundry Dashboard
  2. Enter your email and password
  3. Click Use Recovery Code
  4. Enter one of your saved recovery codes
  5. Click Continue

Each code works once only. Set up 2FA again after logging in with a recovery code.

Generate New Recovery Codes

  1. Log in to DomainsFoundry Dashboard
  2. Go to Account Settings > Security
  3. Click Regenerate Recovery Codes
  4. Save the new codes securely

Generating new codes invalidates all previous ones.

Troubleshooting

2FA code rejected
Set your device time to automatic. Make sure you’re using the code from your DomainsFoundry account entry (not a different service). Codes expire every 60 seconds, so check you’re using the current one. Enter just the 6 digits with no spaces.

Lost phone or can’t access authenticator app
Use a recovery code to log in, then set up 2FA again with your new device. No recovery codes saved? Contact DomainsFoundry support with proof of account ownership.

Recovery code doesn’t work
Check you haven’t used it before (each works once). Make sure you typed it correctly. If you regenerated codes, old ones are invalid. Out of codes? Contact support.

Switching to a new phone
Before transferring, install your authenticator app on the new phone. In DomainsFoundry Dashboard, go to Account Settings > Security, disable 2FA, then re-enable it and scan the QR code with your new phone. Already switched without doing this? Use a recovery code to log in, then set up 2FA on your new device.

FAQs

Is 2FA compulsory?
No, but we strongly recommend enabling it to protect your account.

Can I receive codes by SMS instead?
DomainsFoundry supports authenticator apps only. App-based 2FA is more secure than SMS.

How often do I need to enter a code?
Every time you sign in.

What if I’ve lost both my phone and recovery codes?
Contact DomainsFoundry support. We’ll verify your identity and restore access to your account.

Will 2FA stop my websites or email working?
No. Your hosting, domains, and services continue running normally. 2FA only protects your Dashboard login.
