Change DNS Settings

If you have purchased a web or email service from another provider you can use our free DNS hosting service to point your domain name to the other provider’s service. Your domain will remain with DomainsFoundry meaning you can continue to manage your domain through your DomainsFoundry control panel. You’ll also continue to take advantage of our low renewal prices and faster DNS service.

The benefit of changing your DNS settings over alternatives is DNS setting changes can come into effect within minutes. There are no additional charges such as transfer-in fees. You also keep full control of your domain name.

Change Name Servers

If you have purchased a web or email service from another provider and want to use their name servers and DNS hosting you can change your domain’s name servers instead of transferring your domain.

Updating your name servers is free and can be actioned within seconds via your DomainsFoundry Dashboard.

We recommend changing your DNS settings rather than changing your name servers as changing name servers can take up to 72 hours to come into effect. Also known as propagation. During name server changes it is normal to experience irregular access to websites and emails using your domain. Downtime can also occur if you have not set up DNS records at your new provider.

Update IPS Tag

Warning, updating your IPS Tag is irreversible. Please make sure you carefully enter the correct Tag before submitting your ticket. Once entered, we cannot reverse the change. Transferring your domain cancels your registration with DomainsFoundry. We are only able to provide technical support for domains registered with DomainsFoundry.

You can only transfer your UK domain name away as long as the following conditions are met:

  • The domain name has not expired.
  • The domain name has been registered for more than 60 days.
  • More than 60 days has passed since your domain was renewed.
  • Your domain name is not subject to any additional special offer Terms and Conditions.
  • A transfer request is not in progress for your domain.

If you wish to use your domain with a 3rd-party provider please consider updating your domain name servers instead of transferring your domain. Updating your name servers is free and can be actioned within seconds via your DomainsFoundry Dashboard. Please see How to change name servers

Please note transferring your domain will move your registration to another provider, it will not migrate your website or any hosted services.

If you purchased your domain name as part of a special offer please ensure you fulfil any obligations first.
