I received an email from DomainsFoundry asking to verify the accuracy of Whois data for my domain. What shall I do?
What are these emails?
You may receive emails from sales@domainsfoundry.co.uk with the subject line starting with “Reminder to verify the accuracy of Whois data for” followed by your domain name.
These are legitimate emails from DomainsFoundry. They are automated reminders designed to help you keep your domain’s contact information current and accurate.
Why do I receive these emails?
These verification emails are required by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) for all domain registrations. This requirement helps maintain accurate contact information in the global domain registry system.
Important: Only domains subject to ICANN policies receive these verification reminders. Other domain types such as .UK domains are not affected by this requirement.
What should I do?
- Review your contact information – Check if the contact details shown in the email are current and accurate
- Update if necessary – If any contact information needs updating, log into your DomainsFoundry Dashboard and navigate to Domains > {your domain} > Contact Information. Some changes will require you to approve them by email. We cannot make the changes for you but can assist you with any technical issues which may arise.
- Verify the update – Ensure your changes have been verified and saved successfully
How to verify the email is authentic
To confirm that a WHOIS verification email is legitimate:
- Log into your DomainsFoundry account
- Navigate to your domain’s details page
- Compare the contact information in our system with the details shown in the email
- The information should match exactly
Security tip: Always access your account directly through our website rather than clicking links in emails if you have any concerns about authenticity.
